Table 3: Active-duty Army Recruits per 1000 Youth, by Region, FY 2005 - 2008The overall recruitment rate for the US, calculated here as the number of recruits per thousand youth ages 15-24, was 1.60 in FY 2008. The following chart and table below it show the recruitment rates by region of the country. The South continues to have the highest recruitment rates, which have continued to increase. Recruitment rates in the Northeast are the lowest. In the Midwest, the rate of recruitment has been falling since 2006.
