Data for Democracy 2010 Webinar Series Launches with Out of Balance

Jan. 22, 2010

National Priorities Project launches Data for Democracy 2010 webinar series
with screenings of Out of Balance

Two January dates available!

National Priorities Project is proud to announce the launch of the 2010 Data for Democracy webinar series with Out of Balance. The goal of the webinar series is to help our constituents – elected officials, labor leaders, members of the media, organizers and community groups – use NPP's data and tools more effectively.

On or around February 1, 2010, President Obama will release his FY2011 budget, which will have enormous implications for states and local communities. In preparation for the ensuing – and vitally important – budget cycle, Out of Balance will provide a solid and accessible critique of national spending priorities, with a focus on discretionary spending and military spending in particular.

The webinar will also offer a critical look at the link between federal funds and state and local budgets. State-level figures are available for every state to help participants “bring home” the webinar's main messages.

In general, 2010 Data for Democracy webinars will last one hour, will be interactive and will include state and – when possible – even more localized data. With each new webinar, NPP will release a power point presentation, talking points and data sheets so that people can customize the materials.

There are two January webinar dates for Out of Balance: Tuesday, January 26 at 1:00pm and Wednesday, January 27 at 10:30am. Note: NPP plans to re-release Out of Balance in February, complete with FY2011 numbers and analysis. Stay tuned for more information in the coming weeks.
