It's deja vu all over again. There are now four days left (and counting down) for Congress to come to a budget agreement before parts of the government shut down again.

The U.S. just emerged from the longest government shutdown in U.S. history, all over a border wall that Americans don't need or want. 

Cities and states that are the most directly affected by border crossings are removing National Guard troops and fact-checking the president's false statements about crime along the border.

There are so many other ways to spend $5.7 billion that could actually improve the lives of Americans all over the country and of people all over the world.

America is a nation of plenty. That doesn't mean we should spend money unwisely. It does mean that when immigrants come here looking for a better life, we have the resources and the room to give them a fair chance. And it definitely means that no government worker should be required to come to work without pay, or stay home worrying and wondering when they will be allowed to work again.
