National Priorities Project
nominated for 2014 Nobel Peace Prize
Within the world’s largest-spending state in terms of military budgets, i.e. the USA, few have devoted as much energy to studying the budget process as National Priorities Project. And few have brought to the task such a clear and steadfast commitment to re-allocating the enormous sums devoted to the military, in order to instead address vital issues such as inequality, unemployment, education, health and the need to build a green economy.International Peace Bureau, in its nomination of NPP for the 2014 Nobel Peace Prize
I've found NPP’s work to be an extraordinarily valuable source of insight and analysis with regard to what's at stake for the nation, what our priorities ought to be, and how far we've drifted from those widely-shared goals.Robert Reich
I greatly value NPP's work and use it regularly in my own work.Bill Moyers

We all contribute to the federal budget through our tax dollars, yet we are cut off from decisions about how that money is used by the government. For the past 30 years, NPP has been the nation’s only nonprofit, nonpartisan federal budget research group that is working for you – breaking down the data so you can understand and participate in national debates about how your tax dollars are spent and how our nation resolves its fiscal challenges.
Your gift supports NPP’s in-house research, data, and outreach team as we analyze federal budget numbers to make them relevant to you and your community. Our resources, interactive tools, and popular educational materials give you the information you need to track your tax dollars, understand how the federal budget affects you and your family, and reach your elected officials with your own priorities for our nation.
Yes! NPP relies on people like you to make our work possible. We are supported solely through individuals and foundations. A donation in any amount helps us keep the federal budget accountable and responsive to the priorities of the American people.
As a small, efficient 501(c)3 nonprofit, NPP stretches your dollar a long way. Unlike large think tanks or research institutions, NPP trims all the fat out of our budget to get a lot done with modest resources. For example:
Yes! As an organization whose mission is to make the federal budget transparent and accountable, NPP takes our own financial accountability very seriously. We want you to feel comfortable knowing that your donation will support the work you care about. You can review our financial report from the most recent fiscal year on our annual report page. In FY2012, 81% of all our expenses went to program and research, with only 19% going to administration and development.
NPP has a five-star rating on Guidestar and has received the Guidestar Exchange Seal in recognition of our commitment to transparency. We have also been selected for the past two years as a five-star Top Rated Charity by Great Nonprofits.
