      This interactive presentation covers some of the major budget collisions our lawmakers will face in the coming weeks and months, including the across-the-board spending cuts known as sequestration, the expiration of the continuing resolution that is currently this nation's budget, and the suspension of the debt ceiling. The presentation will last 20 minutes followed by 10 minutes for questions and discussion.

    • Understanding the Pentagon Budget

      Understanding the Pentagon Budget introduces participants to issues related to U.S. military spending and how they relate to the current discussions abour our national spending priorities as our lawmakers face critical budgetary decsions in a period of fiscal austerity. The presentation will last 20 minutes followed by 10 minutes for questions and discussion

    • Federal Budget 101

      Federal Budget 101 is a 40-minute presentation that will introduce the audience to the federal budgeting process. It is intended to strengthen people’s understanding of the community-level impact of the federal budget, and how regular people can have a voice in the budgeting process.

    • Federal Government Spending: Less Transparency in a World of Open Data

      This presentation, done in conjunction with the Association of Public Data Users, discusses the decline of federal spending data as a result of its transition from packaged government data to open government data. Specifically, the talk examines the Census Bureau's non-terminated Consolidated Federal Funds Report and USASpending.gov The presentation is about 30 minutes long, followed by a Q&A session.
