Norma Akamatsu, a family therapist and long-time activist, has been an abiding supporter of National Priorities Project and recently decided to deepen her engagement by hosting a table at NPP’s annual Gala. Norma shares:

NPP is a stellar example of the impact that a "small group of committed people" can initiate. In a world of sound bites and distorted facts, the patiently researched data on the money our government actually collects and expends depicts a troubling but clear reality that grounds and supports progressive advocacy with the power of information.

Kelsey Flynn, actor, August Company co-founder, has this to say about why she supports our work:

I support the very important work of NPP because knowledge is power. NPP gets the raw data, that can be overwhelming and mind-numbing to a mere mortal like myself, distilled down to consumable information I can understand and respond to. I'm a better citizen because of them.

Stuart Mieher, Investment Analyst, remarks:

Our democracy lately has suffered from too much rhetoric and too few facts. NPP distills critical facts about how our elected officials spend our tax dollars and puts them at voters' fingertips. Preston Smith, Associate Professor of Politics at Mount Holyoke College, offers:

I support the National Priorities Project both as an educator and as a citizen. I have taught American politics over the years and have found that NPP's material helps my students understand the political choices informing the size and content of our governmental budgets. As a citizen I think it is vitally important that the citizenry can see concretely the spending and taxing priorities of our representatives.
